Black Alumni Stories

For Black History Month 2024, I led a 31-profile series celebrating Black Oberlin alumni across generations, with class years spanning 1863 to 2018.

I researched and wrote each profile using alumni records, published sources, and archival material when it was relevant. I sourced and prepared imagery, collaborated on a repeatable visual system in Canva, and published the series daily throughout the campaign.

The goal was not to make every profile sound the same. It was to find the detail that made each person more than a name and a class year while giving the series a visual rhythm people could recognize in the feed.

Helping Admitted Students Picture Oberlin

The weeks between an acceptance letter and decision day ask social media to do something different. Students already know they got in; now they are deciding whether they can picture themselves here.

Across three enrollment cycles, I helped shape Oberlin's yield social campaign through campaign planning, multi-channel copywriting, fact-checking, and editorial coordination across campus.

I took stories already happening at Oberlin—student work, faculty news, sustainability, campus life—and framed them for an audience making a decision about where to spend the next four years.

Community Management

A lot of social work happens after the post goes live.

Parents, alumni, students, and prospective students arrive with questions, memories, corrections, strong opinions, and sometimes conversations that need more care than a routine reply.

I manage those interactions across comments, messages, mentions, and replies. I also wrote moderation guidance for Oberlin's alumni community so sensitive conversations have a shared standard and a clear path to a second review.

My approach is straightforward: read the context, give a useful answer or connect the person with the right resource, and bring in a colleague when the conversation needs another set of eyes.

03 / About

I came to social media through storytelling, community work, recruitment marketing, and audio.

I'm currently a Social Media Strategist at Oberlin College & Conservatory, where I work across campaign strategy, editorial content, student creator programs, publishing, and community management.

Before Oberlin, I worked in recruitment marketing at Radancy. I also wrote, fact-checked, produced, and edited Queer News, a weekly podcast that won the 2023 Ambie for Best DIY Podcast.

Audio changed the way I write. It taught me to hear when a hook takes too long, when a sentence is carrying too much, and when the story needs to get to the point. I bring that same ear to social copy and short-form video.

I graduated from Oberlin in 2020 with a BA in Anthropology and Musical Studies and completed eCornell's social media certificate in 2025.

Outside of work, I sing tenor with the Cleveland Chamber Choir. I'm usually watching a documentary, listening to good music, or finding a reason to talk about beets.

Let's get to work.

I'm looking for a team that cares about the people on the other side of the post. I bring editorial care, community judgment, and the discipline to execute.

Open to social strategy, content strategy, social media management, and community roles.
